What To Do
If a permanent tooth is knocked out:
- pick it up by the crown, not the root
- gently rinse it if dirty, without scrubbing
- try to place it back in the socket if appropriate
- if not possible, store it in milk, saline, or saliva
- seek dental care urgently
A baby tooth should not usually be reinserted.
Why Quick Treatment Matters
Fast treatment may improve the chance of the tooth being stabilised or replanted successfully. If the tooth cannot be saved, your dentist can discuss replacement options.
